Koa Bass

I built this bass about 12 years ago. The neck is Birdseye Maple with Purpleheart stringers. The body is solid Curly Koa with an inlaid Pau Fero center cap covering the neck through the body section on the face, and a Pau Fero peghead veneer. It was originally fitted with an EMG magnetic pickup and a polymer film pickup in the bridge, but now has just a film pickup in the bridge and an ebony 'dummy cover' over the hole left from the magnetic pickup. The bridge is made by Schaller, the tuners by Gotoh, and has a double action truss rod and graphite spars in the neck. This bass has incredible sustain and a fat, growly upright type of tone. This has been my personal gigging bass for many years, and I think it is the main reason I've been invited to play on so many people's studio recordings.
